Fellowship Program: Our Mission

The mission of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program is to train fellows to become excellent Infectious Diseases physicians. To achieve such excellence, fellows should acquire the ability and dedication to provide the highest standards of patient care and to become effective teachers and communicators. Additionally, the fellowship program will try to instill in fellows a commitment to research and other scholarly activities. Finally, the mission of the fellowship program is to train Infectious Diseases physicians who practice their profession with honor and compassion. Our priority is to accept applicants who will take full advantage of these mission statements. Commitment to, or at least interest in exploring, an academic career is highly valued in our ranking of fellowship applicants.
