Brief Bio:

 Dr. Pugh received her undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and her M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.  She completed residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and a clinical and research fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University.  Dr. Pugh also completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (M.S.C.I.) during her research fellowship.  She has a clinical and research interest in pulmonary vascular disease, where her research has focused on abnormal glucose/insulin metabolism in pulmonary arterial hypertension.  

Dr. Pugh serves as an attending physician in the Vanderbilt Medical Intensive Care Unit, the inpatient consult service, and the pulmonary hypertension service.  Dr. Pugh has outpatient clinics where she sees a variety of general pulmonary diseases and pulmonary vascular disease. 

A recipient of multiple teaching awards, Dr. Pugh is actively involved in resident and medical student education at Vanderbilt.
