Section of Hospital Medicine
The Section of Hospital Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is an academic program located in a dynamic and collegial environment that is known for excellence in patient care education, and research. Our program was founded in 2007 and has experienced steady growth since that time. We now have a physician and nurse team that provide direct patient care at Vanderbilt, the Tennessee Valley VA Hospital (directly linked with Vanderbilt), and the Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital that is also on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Campus. We provide both day and nighttime care, teaching service, consultative medicine services, and focused surgical co-management service at the VA.
We are proud of our experienced faculty and actively support their academic development as clinician-educators or physician-scientists. In addition to direct patient care activities. Our faculty actively participate across a range of activities that include: Medical School Education, Residency programming, Quality & Safety Leadership, Clinical Operations Leadership, and a portfolio of externally funded research (e.g. VA, NIH, CMS, PCORI). Our group additionally benefits from numerous institutional resources related to Hospital Medicine, including world-class programs in quality improvement research, patient safety, and biomedical informatics.
Nashville, Tennessee (“Music City”) is a thriving and vibrant locale.
