Jade Jones, M.D.

Brief Description: The daughter of two artists and the youngest of five girls, Jade grew up on the island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. Jade attended Hampton University in Virginia on a full Division I basketball scholarship and played in the NCAA tournament her freshman year. After college, Jade spent two years at the University of Pittsburgh, conducting translational research in leukemia. Although she really enjoyed all the wonderful people she met in Pittsburgh, she found out quickly that she was allergic to long winters and decided to return to the South and attend medical school at the University of North Carolina. Fortunately, everyone at UNC was as crazy about basketball as Jade was about the sport! Jade fell in love with Vanderbilt while doing a sub-internship here and is looking forward to meeting her fellow interns/residents and exploring Nashville. Outside of medicine, Jade enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and learning about different cultures, sunny days, singing, water sports and playing basketball.
