Brief Description:

Dan was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and avidly cheers for his (currently awful) Dallas sports teams. He ventured north in hopes of sporting winter gear, only to realize that he’d traded one version of extreme weather for the opposite. Nevertheless, he enjoyed his time at Northwestern, where he completed most of the Biomedical Engineering curriculum before switching into Social Policy/Pre-med. After graduating he completed a fellowship with the Northwestern Public Interest Program (NUPIP), working at Lawndale Christian Health Center (a FQHC on the west-side of Chicago). During that year, he volunteered on his first global health trip to Kabul, Afghanistan. He continued his global health interests in medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio by doing medical service and research in Haiti, Dominican Republic, India, and Bolivia. His greatest accomplishment of medical school, however, was meeting his beautiful wife, Carolina. Dan is convinced his wife has no flaws other than being a Spurs fan. Dan enjoys playing just about any sport, eating and cooking spicy foods, and making anything possible on his own (soymilk, yogurt, salsa, baby food, etc.). As of January 2013, he and Carolina are proud parents and apologize ahead of time for bragging about their “advanced,” adorable baby boy!
